Work has begun on renovation at VODEC’s Council Bluffs location. This remodel is being made possible in part by an Iowa West Foundation grant and also by money that is being raised through Ron and Matt’s “Ride for Full Potential.” (You can follow along with Ron’s blogs and photos of their bike ride across the United States at www.rondickinson.org.)
The centerpiece of the renovation is a new instructional kitchen that will be used by individuals who receive VODEC’s services. Adding this space will give staff the opportunity to teach individuals about healthy meal preparation using whole fresh foods and making use of recipes that are easy for someone with an intellectual disability to understand.
