William Jennings Bryan stated, “On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence.”
It is right and good to celebrate our Independence Day as the time in our history when we gained release from tyranny. But Thanksgiving Day is a special time for us to recognize that all of the bounty we have is not merely the result of our own efforts. Rather, our bounty has come as a gift to us from our Creator.
Together as Americans this week, we give thanks. May we as individuals be known in our families, our churches, and our communities as grateful people.
